A Berry Good Food Plant for Birds and Lizards
The Blueberry Ash Elaeocarpus reticulatus is a small tree which produces lots of sweet smelling pink flowers in early summer. Its brilliant blue berries take quite a long time to ripen with some hanging on the branches until the next flowering season.
This makes the tree an attractive addition to your backyard. Their pretty flowers and fruit add colour to your garden, and attract many native animals.
If you have Blue-tongues in your area you will see them coming to visit for a dinner of fallen Blueberry Ash fruit. Other lizards and pigeons will join them for a great meal.
The blue berries of the Blueberry Ash are loved by cockatoos, parrots and currawongs.
Blueberry Ash will grow along the east coast of Australia where its warm.
